If you are visiting the mineral county of Nevada, you will want to check out the rich and varied natural landscape that this area offers. You could start with Inyo National Forest which is a vast area that has recreational facilities and conservation area. It is a forest area that covers about two million acres of land and has diverse wildlife that can be witnessed in their natural surroundings.

This forest rich county has several national forest reserves. You will also find here the Humboldt-Toiyabe national forest. It is a popular destination for outdoor recreation as well as camping. This forest area is popular through the year; while summer months there is much to do like fishing, camping, and hiking, there are winter sports to engage in during the winter months as well.

Walker Lake is another popular lake area here that is known for camping; beach areas as well as water-based recreational facilities. This is a natural lake that is located in the Great Basin region of western Nevada. Located in the Wassuk range, it offers wonderful views of the surrounding landscape. The Walker Lake recreational area is also located here which is a state park unit.

For city-based attractions, you could head over to Hawthorne. Here you will find the Hawthorne Ordnance Museum. There is also the Mineral County museum here that is known for its collection of mining equipment, mineral samples and antique clothing that showcase the earlier times of county life.

Excelsior Mountains are located close to the town of Mina in this county. The ranges are great to discover in different ways, either by hiking, following the trails that are located here or simply by choosing one of the several resorts located in this area for a vacation or getaway.
